Swim Spa Wellness Benefits
A swim spa is a compact, heated, all-in-one tank designed for swimming, exercise, and relaxation. They arrive fully assembled and pre-plumbed for seamless installation and feature durable, all-season cabinets. Combining traditional spa features with adjustable current technology, they can be installed above ground or partially in-ground.
Key differences from a pool:
- Year-Round Use: Unlike traditional pools which are often in-ground and can’t be used in the winter, a swim spa can be installed in your backyard or indoors for year-round enjoyment.
- Built-in Current: Swim spas feature a built-in jetted current for resistance training.
- Low-Impact Therapy: Endless Pools swim spas sold by Mainely Tubs also feature models with an underwater treadmill—excellent for low-impact physical therapy.
No driving to the pool or a gym! Owning a swim spa means you have flexibility to swim, exercise, and relax all from the comfort of your own home.
A swim spa is a versatile option that blends features of both:
- Pools are generally for recreation and swimming, require a decent amount of space, have ongoing maintenance, and are not typically heated year-round.
- Hot Tubs are much smaller, focusing on relaxation with massage jets.
- Swim Spas are more compact and can encompass everything a pool and hot tub do, plus more, depending on the model. They are used for exercise, hydrotherapy, and year-round relaxation.
A swim spa is a great investment for fitness and relaxation. The buoyancy of the water is much easier on joints, making it an excellent choice for low-impact physical therapy.
Swim spas offer a lot of versatility and all-season fun, which makes them an ideal option for families as well as athletes. They’re also great for entertaining and socializing year-round. From competitive swim training using the Endless Pools E-Series with its Hydrodrive™ current and underwater treadmill, to the versatile SwimCross® current in our X-Series, there is a model designed to suit your needs.
Yes, the best part about using a swim spa for hydrotherapy and low-impact rehab is that the buoyancy of the water is much easier on your body because you eliminate gravity and pressure on your joints.
The Details: Swim Spa Types & Features
Mainely Tubs carries Endless Pools swim spas, made by our manufacturer, Watkins Wellness.
The swim spa’s ability to be used year-round is a major advantage over an in-ground pool—especially in a colder climate. This four-season functionality, combined with the adjustable Endless Pools Hydrodrive™ current, makes it an excellent option for casual swimming, resistance training, and fitness enthusiasts alike.
Endless Pools deliver a versatile swim spa experience, combining smooth, adjustable currents with spacious swim zones and a range of design options to fit your backyard and your fitness goals.
When it comes to swim spas, not all currents are created equal.
- Master Spas uses jet propulsion, which can result in a current that feels turbulent and uneven.
- Endless Pools E-series features the Hydrodrive™ current, which is smooth, wide, and adjustable.
- The Hydrodrive™ current is designed to mimic open-water swimming, providing a more natural experience for all levels, from beginners to elite athletes.
- For those serious about swimming, recovery, or low-impact fitness, Endless Pools delivers performance you can feel.
The currents in the Endless Pools R200 are powered by three airless jets, making it an excellent choice for both resistance swimming and aquatic therapy. Its compact 12-foot design makes it ideal for smaller spaces without compromising on functionality.
You can exercise, play, and relax, all in the comfort of your backyard with the Endless Pools X2000. This model has the largest exercise area of all the Endless Pools models and features a separate hot tub with seating for four. This allows for independent temperature controls and a dedicated spa area right alongside the exercise space.
The Endless Pools swim spas at Mainely Tubs range from 12’-20’ in length and 50”-58” in height.
The Hydrodrive™ current achieves a top speed of 1:14 per 100 meters and is available in the Endless Pools E-series. Other swim spa models provide versatile jets that make up a current.
Yes, that’s one of the reasons an Endless Pools swim spa is so great—it’s for beginners and fitness enthusiasts alike. The current can be dialed down for someone exercising at a comfortable pace or increased for high-intensity training.
You can use a swim tether kit, an exercise kit consisting of a pull rope, row bars, handles, and resistance band). You can also get a swim machine/treadmill, an aqua bike, and an underwater mirror. Available accessories are dependent on which model you choose.

Caring for Your Swim Spa
Endless Pools are designed to be low maintenance compared to traditional pools. All models come standard with a high-quality water care system. Depending on the model you choose, you can work with your Wellness Consultant to discuss what the maintenance schedule will look like.
If you live in a cold climate and plan to be away for an extended time in the winter, your swim spa should be fully winterized.
Proper winterization, similar to a pool, involves:
- Lowering the water level.
- Clearing the lines to prevent freezing and cracks.
- Adding the right chemicals to keep the water clean while it’s not in use.
Important Notes:
- Your swim spa is designed to stay filled and should not remain empty for long periods.
- It is critical to winterize your swim spa properly to avoid voiding your warranty.
For your peace of mind, Mainely Tubs offers Winterization Services for your Swim Spa.
Endless Pools swim spas come fully equipped for four-season use, even outdoors. They are fully insulated with our Tri-Thermic™ Barrier System and locking spa covers, to maintain an ideal temperature and reduce evaporation. Swim Spas, due to their self-contained systems and higher water temperatures, typically benefit from a full water change once per year for optimal water quality.
To maintain the water quality of a swim spa you may need to use a few different things including Chlorine, Ph adjusters (Ph up & Ph down), Alkalinity increaser, Calcium increaser, Filters. Always check with your Wellness Consultant for a full list of chemicals needed to balance your swim spa.
